Welcome to my site

Hello everyone!

I am going to be real honest with you. I have never written a blog before. I have written so many essays and papers but never a blog. I am not sure where to start or what to discuss, but maybe that’s what I should do. I’ll start from the beginning.

Currently, I work full-time as a Registrar at Atrium Health Floyd. I’m the one who verifies your demographic information, files your insurance on your account, and collects any co-pay or deductible due at the time of service. I became a Preceptor (a fancy word for a trainer) a little over 2 years ago, and I train new hires and show them how to be successful. Additionally, anytime my co-workers have an issue with insurance or tech, I am the go-to person. Even though we do have an I.T. department, they call me the I.T. guru. All of these experiences sparked my interest to teach others. I am so excited to begin my career in teaching math.

While taking my courses at Shorter University, I realized that there's an abundance of resources available for teachers. I've also created some of my own that may be useful later on. It became apparent that I would need something to store all of these resources. So, I bought a filing cabinet to help keep all the papers and notebooks organized. For digital resources, anytime I come across something that might be useful, I bookmark it. I'm also creating and designing my own website, www.teachmemath.org, that will be full of great resources. I can't wait to begin this educational journey together. We are going to have so much fun learning about math!
